Scottish Mountains

Although the mountains of Scotland are not really that large compared with some countries what makes them impressive is that most rise almost directly out of the sea or from sea level as opposed to smaller peaks on a higher mountain plateau.
The oil painting of Ben Nevis (above), the highest mountain in Scotland being a good example.

Scotland has 300 mountains higher than 3,000 feet that is individual mountains not peaks they are classed as Munro's by climbers. This creates deep narrow valleys called glens.

Contemporary art can be defined variously as art produced at this present
point in time.
